Mezzanine platform and access stairs

Another workshop needed storage above their machining area but could not stop production to get it. We fabricated the whole platform off site and installed it in stages over three weekends.

Columns were positioned to miss the existing machine bases, which meant surveying the floor before the drawings rather than after.

The challenge

Building over a live workshop floor, around fixed machine bases, without stopping production or dropping anything on someone else's plant.

What we built

Floor surveyed and column positions set to miss every machine base. Everything fabricated off site, then craned in and bolted up across three weekends with the shop closed.

The results

96 square metres of storage gained with no production days lost. The client has since referred two further fabrication jobs to us.
